One of the world’s most beloved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the legendary Elizabethan playwright William Shakespeare comes to Dubrovnik this summer, where it will be performed at Lovrijenac Fortress, the most famous open air venue in this part of Europe.
The city of Dubrovnik joins the celebrations marking William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday with the first play commissioned from an English company to be performed in Lovrijenac in more than twenty years.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a classic Shakespearean comedy focusing on themes of love, passion, magic, mistaken identity and even theatre itself. It is one of the most widely performed plays from the Bard’s back catalogue.
Set in the era of early silent film, this production aims to create the Faery world against the alluring backdrop of the silver screen evoking the golden age of Hollywood.
The English cast, directed by Gary Wright, includes two Croatian actors and is supported by international creative team.
